In summer, mosquitoes can quickly turn cosy evenings into a nightmare.

Fortunately, nature offers us some precious allies, such as certain natural essential oils, representing a healthier alternative to conventional products.

Did you know that mosquitoes are the most dangerous creatures for human beings because of the diseases they carry?

So we tell you all about how to protect your home and your skin naturally.

Essential oils: effective anti-mosquito allies

Essential oils of lavender and lavandin, renowned for their repellent properties, as well as eucalyptus and citronella oils, are growing in popularity thanks to their composition free of potentially harmful synthetic chemicals.

Fine or Real Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) and Lavandin (Lavandula hybrida) are both effective against mosquitoes thanks to their compounds, notably lynalol and linalyne acetate, whose odor is unpleasant to mosquitoes.

But what's the difference between the two?

Fine or Real Lavender grows at higher altitudes. It has a milder fragrance and its essential oil is often considered milder and suitable for children aged 2 and over.

Lavandin is a natural hybrid of Real Lavender and Aspic Lavender. It is more robust and has a higher yield of essential oil, making it more economical. Its fragrance is more intense and contains more camphor and cineole. Its essential oil should never be applied undiluted to the skin, and is not recommended for pregnant women or children under 7.

Possible synergy:

Peppermint essential oil is rich in menthol and gives off a strong menthol scent that is repellent to insect pests. For optimum effect, use in combination with other repellent oils. Menthol also has a cooling, anaesthetizing effect. Peppermint essential oil is therefore highly appreciated for soothing itching, particularly from insect bites.

For home diffusion

Diffusion is ideal for purifying the air and keeping mosquitoes away from indoor rooms.

*For adults, you can diffuse for 15 minutes per hour.

*For children aged 7 and over, you can diffuse 5 minutes per hour.

Tips for the home:

In case of bites:

Fine lavender is also excellent for relieving itching and soothing the skin after a mosquito bite.

Apply a drop of pure fine or real lavender essential oil to the spot and repeat if necessary.

Our tip: Small and practical, the refillable mini roll-on lets you take it with you wherever you go!

Anti-mosquito spray with lemon eucalyptus essential oil

The 100% natural spray with freshly scented lemon eucalyptus essential oil also has insect-repellent effects. The insect repellent properties of lemon eucalyptus help keep mosquitoes and other harmful insects at bay, offering natural protection against bites and helping to soothe itching and irritation caused by stings.

Citronella essential oil candle

You can also use our 100% natural candle with organic citronella essential oil.

For best results, place the candle on a flat surface and light it 30 minutes before moving into the room, to ward off any mosquitoes already present.

Place it on a windowsill or tabletop, and enjoy its pleasant lemony scent.

Did you know? Studies show that burnt citronella essential oil in candle form can reduce the number of mosquito bites by 42% (source: American Mosquito Control Association).

Important: Remember that essential oils are powerful and must be used with care and in the correct dosage. If in doubt, consult a health professional or aromatherapist.

By combining these natural, environmentally-friendly and biodegradable methods, you can enjoy your summer more serenely, limiting the invasion of mosquitoes into your home and protecting your skin!
