Dry skin, oily skin, sensitive skin, irritated skin or mature skin, each skin type has its own plant oil for a healthy glow!

In addition to the benefits of vegetable oils in cooking, aromatherapy and therapy, they are also indispensable in cosmetics. A major ingredient in skincare creams, vegetable oils are used in their purest form, each with properties adapted to specific skin types.

Extraction

Vegetable oils are obtained by cold-pressing oilseeds or fruits, which have been sorted beforehand and from which the leaves and stems have been removed. This is known as “first cold pressing”, an ancestral technique that respects the quality of the raw material. The virgin oil obtained is filtered and undergoes no chemical treatment.

Its composition

Good skin hydration depends on the volume of water we drink every day, but its beauty also depends on what we apply to it.

Vegetable oils are mainly made up of fatty acids and unsaponifiable matter (between 0.5 and 15% depending on the oil), including enzymes, mineral salts and vitamins A, B, C, D, E or K.

Vitamin A: A “healthy glow” effect! Promotes skin hydration. An antioxidant, it promotes melanin production. It is found in jojoba oil, avocado oil and carrot macerate.

B vitamins: Mainly dedicated to the beauty of hair and skin: B3 prevents pigmentation spots, B5 stimulates hair and nails, B9 plays a role in collagen production.

Vitamin C: Regenerating, it enhances healing, evens skin tone, smoothes skin and protects it from the harmful effects of the sun.

Vitamin D: plays a role in strengthening the skin barrier and in keratin synthesis.

Vitamin E: A well-known anti-oxidant in the fight against ageing, it is also anti-inflammatory and moisturizing.

Vitamin K: Acts on blood circulation and skin thickness.

What plant oils are used in cosmetics?

Incorporated into cosmetic care products, vegetable oils are a treasure trove of benefits for radiant skin, hair and nails. They include

- Sweet Almond vegetable oil: Sweet Almond vegetable oil is ideal for sensitive and fragile skin, thanks to its soothing properties. It is often recommended for sensitive individuals such as babies and pregnant women.

- Shea butter: indispensable in cosmetic care. Its buttery texture provides nourishing, moisturizing and protective properties.

- Coconut vegetable oil: Nourishing and softening, it restores strength and suppleness to dry hair. Highly effective for dry, sensitive skin, it provides deep nourishment and protection against UV rays, and protects hair from the sun's harmful rays.

- Macadamia vegetable oil: as a neutral, skin-protecting oil with a dry feel, it is suitable for all skin and hair types, making it a versatile choice for all cosmetic treatments.

But which oil should you choose?

There's no such thing as a good or bad oil. The important thing is to find a balanced plant oil for your skin or hair type. On the other hand, if no oil is suitable, or if it's too powerful, it's perfectly possible to mix them to personalize your skin care or make it gentler.

You can even add a few drops of essential oils in precise doses to optimize and reinforce their actions and benefits.

Some recipes :

. To transform a hair care shampoo into a more moisturizing one, add a few drops of jojoba, argan or macadamia vegetable oils, perfect for dry, fine or brittle hair.

. For oily, dehydrated skin, mix 5 drops of niaouli essential oil in a bottle containing 10ml jojoba vegetable oil and 20ml macadamia vegetable oil and apply to skin morning and night after cleansing.

. To moisturize your skin after exfoliation, melt 30g of shea butter in a bain-marie. Once melted, place in a container and add 20ml avocado vegetable oil and 10 drops Palmarosa essential oil. Stir and chill in the fridge for 1 hour. Then whip the balm with a fork to obtain a creamy texture.
